Fast bowler Jayden Seales collected his fourth five-wicket haul as the West Indies secured a commanding 90-run win over Pakistan in the first Test at Tarouba, Trinidad and Tobago.

Holding a slim 29-run advantage after the first innings, the West Indies were dismissed for 181 in their second effort, setting Pakistan a target of 211 on Tuesday, the fourth day of the match.

Seales (5-20), supported by his fellow quicks, delivered an outstanding pace performance at the Brian Lara Stadium. The hosts bowled Pakistan out for 120 in just over 40 overs, wrapping up the contest with a full day still to play.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam remained unbeaten on 58 and shared a late stand with number 11 Mohammad Abbas (23) in a short-lived fightback. However, the result was virtually sealed when the visitors collapsed to 71-9.

Shan Masood, who had scored 109 in the first innings despite fracturing a finger, returned to bat at number eight in the second innings. He managed only three runs before becoming one of Seales’ victims.

West Indies skipper Roston Chase dedicated the triumph to legendary all-rounder Garry Sobers, who passed away earlier this month.

“We spoke before the game about wanting to honour him with our performance. I hope he would have been proud of the way we played,” Chase said after the match.

“I’m encouraged by the progress of this side. Success isn’t coming from just one or two individuals — everyone is contributing at key moments.”

Babar acknowledged that Pakistan’s inability to build partnerships proved decisive.

“As a batting group, we fell short today. We kept losing wickets in clusters, and that hurt us badly. It’s an area we need to improve,” he said.

The second and final Test of the series will get under way in Port of Spain on Sunday.
