Blaze at fuel depot in Russia's Rostov area following drone strike brought under control
Aug 3 (Reuters) - A blaze broke out at a fuel depot in the Kamensky district of the Rostov region in Russia, following a Ukrainian drone strike. The fire, which erupted as a result of the attack, has since been contained, according to the district's head on Saturday.
No casualties were reported during the incident, he confirmed.
The regional governor stated that 55 Ukrainian drones targeted the area overnight. Due to the severity of the attacks, a state of emergency has been declared in the Morozovsky district, which is also in Rostov. The attacks damaged schools, kindergartens, residential homes, and industrial facilities, the governor added.
Earlier on Saturday, the governor of the Belgorod region reported a similar drone strike on an oil facility. The fire was swiftly brought under control and, like the earlier incident, caused no injuries.
On Saturday, Ukraine’s military announced it had carried out strikes on Russia’s Morozovsk airbase, as well as multiple oil depots and fuel storage locations across three Russian regions.
This year, Ukraine has significantly increased the deployment of long-range drones, aiming to hit Russian oil infrastructure, in an effort to disrupt resources critical to both the nation's military and economic strength.
