Overnight Russian strikes killed six people in southeastern Ukraine and damaged a children’s hospital in the capital, Kyiv, local authorities said.

Officials said the early Tuesday assault involved long-range missiles and formed part of a broader Russian effort to overwhelm Ukraine’s air defences while Kyiv struggles with a shortage of Patriot interceptors.

Ivan Fedorov, head of the military administration in the southeastern Zaporizhzhia region, described the attack as “massive”, saying Russia used missiles and aerial bombs. Six people were killed and 19 others wounded. Images shared by Fedorov showed buildings and vehicles on fire, while parts of the region also suffered power cuts.

A ballistic missile strike on Kyiv caused further damage and left one person injured. Ukraine’s state emergency service said a children’s hospital in the Shevchenkivskyi district was hit, while a warehouse fire caused by the attack wounded one person.

In the southern city of Mykolaiv, a 75-year-old woman was injured in a separate Russian drone strike, according to the regional military administration’s chief.

Russia’s Ministry of Defence said the overnight operation targeted defence-industry sites as well as transport and logistics centres in Kyiv and Zaporizhzhia.

Ukrainian drone strike kills one in Russia’s Voronezh region

Meanwhile, an overnight Ukrainian drone attack killed one person and wounded two others in Russia’s Voronezh region. Regional Governor Alexandr Gusev said falling debris also started fires at warehouse sites.

Gusev did not identify the warehouse that was damaged. However, Russian online retailer Wildberries, whose facilities have previously been targeted by Ukrainian attacks, said earlier that its logistics premises in Voronezh had been evacuated.

Russian air-defence forces destroyed 15 drones over the city of Voronezh and five surrounding districts, according to Gusev.

Russia has intensified ballistic missile strikes against Ukrainian cities in recent weeks, while Ukraine has increased attacks on targets far inside Russian territory.
