Son of Putinist Gazmanov Renounces His Father: His Brother Loses Temper
The son of Russian singer Oleg Gazmanov, who openly supports the large-scale war in Ukraine, has publicly disassociated himself from his father. Philip Gazmanov decided he no longer wanted any ties to the Ukraine-hating figure and even went as far as to change his last name.
According to Russian media, Philip adopted his mother's maiden name. He now goes by Philip Muravyov.
Philip's older brother also spoke out in response to the situation.
"When you ask someone who wasn’t involved in an action about that action, it’s uninteresting. I mean, it may pique the curiosity of some, but it’s entirely petty and vulgar. Why inquire about a person’s motives from someone who might not even know why something happened? And even if I do know, I have no intention of sharing it with you. There’s a person who made that decision—direct those questions to them, not to me," he said.
It’s worth mentioning that Oleg Gazmanov confirmed his son’s decision to change his surname. However, he did not disclose his reaction to the matter or reveal whether he had attempted to dissuade his son from taking such a step.
As a reminder, a similar situation occurred earlier with Russian actress Maria Mashkova, who condemned the war in Ukraine. She chose to abandon her patronymic, no longer identifying as Maria Vladimirovna. This decision came in response to her father’s vocal support of the genocide against the Ukrainian people and his pressure on her to align with his views.
