American and Father of Youngest Captives Scheduled for Release from Gaza on Saturday

Hamas announced on Friday that three Israeli hostages are set to be released from Gaza on Saturday. Among them are an American dual national and the father of the youngest hostages captured during the October 7, 2023, attacks in Israel.

The three individuals named for release are Keith Siegel, Yarden Bibas, and Ofer Kalderon. According to the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office, their families have already been notified.

Keith Siegel, an Israeli-American citizen, was taken from his home at kibbutz Kfar Aza. His wife, Aviva, who was abducted alongside him, had previously been freed in November 2023 as part of a temporary truce between Israel and Hamas.

Yarden Bibas was abducted from kibbutz Nir Oz, along with his wife Shiri and their two sons, Kfir and Ariel. At the time of the kidnapping, Kfir was only nine months old, making him the youngest hostage taken during the October 7 incident.

Ofer Kalderon was 52 years old when he was abducted from kibbutz Nir Oz. He was taken along with his son, Erez, then 11, and his daughter, Sahar, who was 16. Both Erez and Sahar were released during the ceasefire in November 2023.

Contributions to this report were made by Eugenia Yosef and Dana Karni.

This is an evolving story and will be updated as new information becomes available.
