From Kyiv to Japan in 55 Hours: Ukrainian Woman Reveals How Much She Paid for the Journey
For Ukrainian travelers, a trip to Japan can feel like a real challenge. The route requires careful planning and a considerable budget. Ukrainian traveler Kristi Kuzenko, who has visited Japan, shared on TikTok how she managed to get to the country.
She said that the entire journey took around 55 hours. The traveler also revealed how much she spent on the route and what level of comfort she received for that amount.
She departed from Budapest Airport, so the first step was reaching Hungary. She bought a train ticket from Kyiv to Uzhhorod for 900 hryvnias. After that, she used a shared transfer service that took travelers to Budapest. Including the border crossing, this part of the trip lasted about seven hours and cost 1,700 hryvnias.
The woman also booked a hotel room in Budapest to rest before her flight. The room cost 2,500 hryvnias for two people. The following day, she took a taxi to the airport. This transfer cost her 300 hryvnias because the fare was split between five passengers.
The biggest part of the trip, both in terms of time and expenses, was the flight itself. First, she had a 10-hour flight from Budapest to Shanghai, followed by a layover and a two-hour flight from Shanghai to Osaka.
Both flights were operated by a Chinese airline and cost 18,000 hryvnias. The ticket price included checked baggage and meals during the flights.
In total, the Ukrainian traveler spent approximately 22,000 hryvnias, or nearly 500 US dollars, to travel from Kyiv to Japan.
Such a route shows that traveling from Ukraine to distant Asian destinations often involves several transfers, long travel times, and extra costs before the main flight even begins.
