Warming Heads to Ukraine: Hydrometeorological Center Reveals How Long It Will Last
Warmer weather is currently spreading across Ukraine; however, according to forecasts from meteorological experts, there may be a shift toward cooler temperatures starting next week. This was reported by Nataliya Ptukha, a meteorologist at the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, in a comment to the UNIAN Weather service.
She noted that the coming days will bring relatively calm weather conditions across the country. Some areas may experience occasional fog during night and early morning hours. This weather is due to a high-pressure system and the presence of relatively mild air masses.
"Atmospheric pressure and temperatures are not expected to change significantly. However, humidity levels will remain fairly high," Ptukha explained.
Overnight temperatures will range from +2°C to -3°C, while daytime highs will be between +1°C and +6°C. In the Zakarpattia, Prykarpattia regions and in the south of Ukraine, it will be warmer during the day, with temperatures around +5°C to +12°C.
"No precipitation is expected through the 18th and potentially the 19th–20th as well. There will be minimal changes in weather conditions. At night, temperatures will be between +3°C and -3°C, and during the day, they will range from 0°C to +6°C. In Zakarpattia, Prykarpattia, and southern regions of the country, daytime highs will be around +4°C to +10°C. The weather will stay relatively steady," the expert added.
Will the Warm Weather Continue Next Week?
When asked whether this warming trend will extend beyond the current week, Ptukha stated that, most likely, warmer conditions will persist until December 21.
"After that, starting from the following week, current forecasts and expert evaluations suggest there could be a downward trend in temperatures," she said, adding that it is still too early to provide precise temperature values or confirm any significant cold spell.
Fog Alert in Ukraine – December 16 Warning
According to UNIAN, a fog advisory has been issued for December 16 due to reduced visibility. Fog is expected particularly during the morning in eastern, northern, central, and Zaporizhzhia regions.
Visibility could drop to between 200 and 500 meters. These areas are considered under a level one weather danger alert (yellow level).
