An Easy Way to Feed Plants: Experts Reveal a Hassle-Free Method
If you're looking to refresh your home in the new year, adding a few houseplants can do wonders. Great options include the peace lily and snake plant, both known for their ability to purify indoor air.
According to Express, while these plants are relatively easy to maintain, they do require some care, especially during winter. This season presents challenges like reduced sunlight and the drying effects of indoor heating, which can stress plants.
Experts at Beards and Daisies have shared a simple way to nourish your plants without much effort. They recommend reusing leftover water from boiling vegetables or pasta to hydrate your plants.
"Instead of wasting the water, let it cool and use it to water your plants. This water is rich in nutrients that can give your plants a natural boost. Just make sure it’s unsalted, as salt can harm your plants," the experts advise.
They claim that this method can significantly improve your plants' health during winter. There are also other creative ways to repurpose household waste for plant care.
"Take the inside of a banana peel and gently rub it on the leaves of your houseplants. This helps clean the leaves and gives them a natural shine, thanks to the oils in the peel. As an added bonus, banana peels can also be added to compost to enrich it with nutrients, supporting plant growth," the specialists suggest.
Using methods like these can help reduce kitchen waste while providing additional benefits for your plants.
"Instead of tossing waste products, save money on fertilizers by using banana peels, eggshells, or even coffee grounds. These natural waste materials are nutrient-rich and will be appreciated by your plants," they concluded.
As previously reported by UNIAN, peace lilies require extra care during the winter months, as they thrive in warm, humid climates similar to their native tropical environment. Without proper attention, this beloved "lady’s happiness" plant may wilt or die.
