In Lviv, the traditional star carriers' procession was held after a two-year break (photo report)
On December 30, 2024, in the heart of Lviv, the traditional festival "Spark of the Christmas Star" returned after a two-year hiatus, featuring a vibrant parade of star bearers as its centerpiece.
The star bearers' procession began near the Church of the Most Holy Eucharist and continued through Rynok Square and along Svobody Avenue. The festive caroling concluded near the city’s main Christmas tree.
It’s worth noting that in 2023, due to heavy shelling of Ukrainian cities and safety concerns, Lviv had to cancel the star bearers' parade. The event was last held in January 2022, attracting a significant crowd of participants and spectators.
The event was captured by a photojournalist from UNIAN.
As reported by UNIAN, last week, a four-meter Christmas didukh (a ritual sheaf of wheat) was installed in central Lviv. This decoration will remain in place until the holiday season ends.
Additionally, on December 5, a 16-meter Christmas tree was erected in front of Lviv Opera House.
