‘SNL50’ anniversary special to feature alumni alongside Bad Bunny, Sabrina Carpenter, and more
NEW YORK (AP) — The highly anticipated 50th anniversary celebration of “Saturday Night Live” will feature appearances from a star-studded lineup, including Steve Martin, Sabrina Carpenter, Bad Bunny, John Mulaney, Dave Chappelle, and many more familiar faces from the show’s illustrious history. Alongside these prominent guests, a number of beloved alumni, including cast members from its inaugural season, will also take part.
Scarlett Johansson, who is married to Weekend Update co-host Colin Jost, will be among the featured guests in “SNL50: The Anniversary Special,” airing live on Sunday. The three-hour broadcast is set to commemorate five decades of the legendary sketch comedy series.
Last Thursday, NBC announced an exciting roster of participants, including Adam Driver, Ayo Edebiri, Paul McCartney, Tom Hanks, Miley Cyrus, Robert De Niro, Martin Short, and Kim Kardashian. On Monday, the network unveiled an extensive list of former cast members who will make appearances, such as Eddie Murphy, Tina Fey, Seth Meyers, Will Ferrell, Andy Samberg, and Adam Sandler.
Additionally, several original Not Ready for Prime Time Players from the show’s debut season—Chevy Chase, Garrett Morris, Jane Curtin, and Laraine Newman—will return for the momentous occasion. The network has hinted at even more surprise reunions during the broadcast.
The festivities will kick off two days prior with the "SNL50: The Homecoming Concert," streaming live on Peacock. Bad Bunny and Miley Cyrus are scheduled to take the stage, alongside other acclaimed performers. Hosted by “SNL” alum Jimmy Fallon, the concert will also feature musical acts like Lady Gaga, Post Malone, Chris Martin, David Byrne, Eddie Vedder, and more.
